I’m pleased to announce that Raj Kottamasu will be creating a short animation for the film: Taiwan in Two Minutes. Yes, the entire history of Taiwan in two minutes through cut-out collage animation. Maybe the sequence will start with me setting an egg timer.
Raj has a masters from MIT in City Planning and a certificate in film from SAIC, where Orson Welles graduated. I’ve always appreciated that SAIC considers film a “time-based” art – what a fantastic way of looking at film. I like that Raj’s artwork has a sense of play and a sociopolitical focus; he doesn’t make slick car commercials or try to sell you a business solution. See two videos featuring his animation below, or take a look at his website.
In the meantime, I’ve also been working on a (simpler) collage animation, which I’ve been calling KMT ROC Oh Say Can You See.
